Tattoo Aftercare

Traditional Heal

Remove Bandage in 3-4 hours, do not re-bandage.

Create a lather using clean hands and unscented antibacterial liquid hand soap (ie. Dial gold, Dr. Bronners).

Wash carefully and gently massage removing excess ointment, plasma and ink under warm water.

Pat dry with a clean paper towel not a towel, as they harbor bacteria.

Allow the skin to dry for 5-10 minutes and then apply a VERY thin layer of Eucerin Aquaphor or A&D ointment with clean hands.

Repeat 2-3 times daily for the first 2-3 days, then switch to Lubriderm, Aveeno, Jergens, or another unscented/mild lotion you have used before (to avoid allergic skin reactions), still washing 2-3 times per day. Apply lotion with a clean hand when the tattoo feels dry. Do not lotion excessively.

***Do NOT pick or scratch***

*NO sun, swimming or soaking (ie. no pools/swimming, baths, hot tubs or saunas) for at least two weeks.

Do not allow your tattoo to come in contact with animals/pets or other potentially harmful germs. Keeping your tattoo clean is key.

Wash your tattoo after excessive sweating/working out.

To avoid irritation, wear loose and comfortable clothing around your tattoo. If clothing sticks to your fresh tattoo, take the article of clothing in the shower with you and remove gently under warm water.

If you experience any unusual pain, redness or swelling and suspect infection, contact your Physician and artist IMMEDIATELY.

*Do not take anyone else’s advice.

Tagaderm Instructions

Leave tagaderm on for 3-4 days as log as…

-It is not leaking plasma or ink

-The tattoo is still fully covered (some of the edges curling is fine as long as the tattoo itself is not exposed).

-You don’t notice any abnormal or excessive burning or itching as well as hives or redness around the adhesive.

*If you notice any of these things, please remove Tagaderm immediately and follow up via email as you may be having an allergic reaction to the adhesive.

Your tattoo may appear '“blurry” or have pockets of liquid in the Tagaderm and this is Normal.

After 3-4 days remove in the shower under warm water and wash thoroughly with antibacterial liquid hand soap to remove any plasma, lymph or ink residue. Pat dry with a paper towel and use a mild lotion 2-3 times daily for a total of 2 weeks.

After 2 weeks when your tattoo is done flaking, always apply sunscreen before exposing to sun. Your tattoo may appear healed before this, but it takes a solid 3-4 weeks for a tattoo to fully heal. While healing, your tattoo may appear dull or shiny before it settles in.
